The Ice fasination

We have arrived.

I grew up on the PA/NY border. I lived in an area where we got snow. Pretty much a lot of snow. Not the amount my parents get now. But enough to have lived the first 18 years of my life sledding, snow fort building, shoveling and then driving on snowy icy roads.

My 17 yo son is with me this trip. The only time he has lived in the North was the first 3 years of his life and then 2 winters in DC (which really doesn’t count). He is fasinated by the fact he went out to the car last night to get something and the whole car is covered in a sheet of ice. We used my Mom’s car the past 2 days.

He came in all excited. “I can use the ice scrapper on the windsheild before we leave in the morning!”

Excuse me, but when I was 17 I did anything and everything I could to avoid that task. Gas was cheaper and we lived in the middle of no where so we would go out 5 to 10 min before we left and start the car. If we forgot to do that, I would get one of the little brothers to do it. I sure didn’t want to go out there and scrap the windows!

But I guess when you live in Georgia and haven’t really ever done it, must be thrilling. I chuckle to myself and think, next year when he is going to college here, he will get over that fasination within the first week of bad weather, what you wanna bet??

  1. Cute post! Tell him he can come do that at my house every morning if he wants to! ;-)

  2. Now if you could find a way to put a new spin on mowing the grass and washing the dishes, right? LOL
