Do You Take You-Time?
After reading Cara’s blog post Is Your Face Done? and hearing another WAHM ask if she could have a day off, I really started thinking.
WAHMs can always be at work. Many get up, get the kids dressed, feed and ready for school and sit down and start to work. They put in long hours. If they aren’t working they are working. You get this if you are a WAHM. So many things need to get done. The dishes, the laundry, helping little Jimmy with his science project are all on the list. A WAHMs job is never done.
But sometimes you have to tell yourself it’s ok to take some You-Time. Like Cara says, put some makeup on. Do your hair. Do something for yourself that makes you feel good. Do some great family activity. I have to admit my computer just got turned on after a 24 hours of being turned off. I know in the middle of the week, ain’t life grand? Gathered up the family and went to the beach yesterday. I didn’t even turn it on when we came home last night. There was no work for any one in this house for 24 hours.
So if you find yourself asking to take a day off, say yes. Maybe you only need an hour or so. Go get a mani/pedi, go for a walk, do something specifically for you.
When you sit back down to your computer or your work area, you will find yourself a bit more renewed. Getting your mind off your job will help you refocus and energize. I mean after all you are a work at home mom so you can get the best out of life!

Absolutely. It’s amazing what a ten minute walk outside or just pushing the kids on the swing can do to refresh me.
I find that I get my BEST ideas when I’m not even working!

So often moms feel guilt for taking time for ourselves. I say get over it! You deserve a time out every so often to keep ourselves charged and feeling good.
Good for you Judy for unplugging yourself! I think I’ll try that on Sundays - more family time, less screen time!

Summers here in Vermont are short … period!
I try to pamper myself by going in to work a little early and walking out at 12:00 to sit in the sun and play with the dog for a good, solid hour.
The whole point in working at home is to enjoy your time at home, while earning an income

A woman’s work is never done especially when you have kids. I always make sure I find time for myself. I leave my husband home with the kids and I may go see a movie, shopping or even dinner by myself. It feels so good and I am a better person when I get back home. One should always spend sometime by yourself. It does help:)

My husband works from home and says the same thing. I leave my office and I’m done working — he’s always got something going.
Nothing like a walk around the block to clear the head.
Your day at the beach sounds killer.
