Unorganized Thoughts

You know what made my day yesterday? I found my colored pencils and my  bulletin board.

Sounds like a strange thing to make my day huh?

Well let me tell you about it.

My bulletin board hangs over the side of my desk. I tack up things that inspire me. Pictures that people send me go there. Little mementos of events that I have been to. Stuff that reminds me of my kids and family and friends. Its always been in sight of my desk when I write. I have really missed it. OK so it is not on the wall yet, but it is propped up where I can see it again.

My colored pencils. How I have missed these guys. Now yes I know I am 40 something and colored pencils shouldn’t mean that much, but these are special colored pencils you see. I have these for my journal. Yes I keep a real live journal, not just this electronic blog.  It is the typical diary. I draw, I put in pictures, I scribble down story ideas. I use a lot of stickers and scrapbook stuff. My journal came with, but some how the pencils ended up in a box with the packers. But it is nice to be able to make my journal and ideas techinicolor again.

Since moving I have been so “all over the place”. I know my writing has suffered horribly. I have let a few things fall through the cracks. As a matter of fact I have a deadline coming up and am no where near finishing the project. I work well under pressure, but this is a bit ridiculous.

My thoughts have been as unorganized as my writing. These two simple things help to ground me when it comes to my thoughts and writing. They may seem very insignificant, but in reality and to me, they play a major roll. I guess I didn’t really know until this move how big of a part they play in my creative process.

Do you have something that helps you get through your day? Some little thing that help you stay focused and organized? Would love to hear about it.

Time to get up and get moving!

Ever have one of those days? I really have to move my desk. As it sits right now I get to look out the window. I have to be honest and tell you that is a bit distracting. It’s gorgeous out there, and I just want to find an activity that leads me outside to play. The outside seems to call to me, write later, come out and play now.

That would be easy, but the temptation is to play now and then play later as well. Finding a routine is essential if you are a WAHM. Now I know we became WAHMs because of the flexibility, but … sometimes we need routines too. Routines help us to get things done. They help us meet our goals and accomplish what we set out to every morning.

So it is time for me to move my desk. It’s time for me to establish a new routine for my new home. It’s time for me to get up and get moving, in the writing sense. Time for me to establish some daily writing goals.

RIght now I am working on some PLR packets. These are kind of fun. I have some great articles coming out that will have summer time themes that will work well for fall as well. I love these kind of themes. I get to play on my education as an aromatherapist and a nutritional counselor. That makes life so grand. I get to write about what I love. That should inspire me to write huh?

Have a great day. Remember Routines are GOOD!

Monday Motivation May 19

First off can you believe there is only this monday and next and then we will be in June? Time is just whirling around us isn’t it?

My mom tells me I work best under pressure. That when the time comes closer to a deadline the better at work that I get. Well this week I hope she is right!

7 days from today the movers will arrive to pack up my household belongings. That same day I have a writing deadline. Talk about crunch time!

Do deadlines motivate you? I am not the procrastinator I know some of my family members are, but I do have to admit I do have a tendency to put things off.

That being said some of my best work has come about when I know that I just have to get it done. What is it that motivates so many of us to do our best work under the gun?

Recently chatting to a friend online I have told her that after this move I will not be so disorganized in my life and business once I move. And I really do have this as a goal. To space out both my housework and my writing work to avoid this “last minute surge of activity”. How will this affect my creativity? Will it affect my creativity?

These are all things that I am going to be looking into, and more than writing about as I face this issue in the future. Until then, how does working under pressure motivate you? or do you not work well under pressure???

Have a great week! And stay motivated!
