Monday Motivation Strikes Again!

Well here it is 5:30 on a Monday afternoon. It has been a very productive day, but I still have several articles left to write.

I was up early this morning. I set my alarm. Haven’t done that in years, but it really helped tremendously. So we were all up and at ‘em early this morning. I had articles written before the girls and I took a 5 mile walk this morning. Yeap you read that right, we walked 5 miles this morning. Came home to write some more and then take the kids to subway and return the movies.

So what made this Monday morning different from say last Monday morning? I would have to say it was all in the frame of mind. One of those things were you convince yourself to get up and get going. And beyond that, that you can get up and get going and do it very well.

You do your WAHM better than anyone else. You are unique, motivated and your work is valued. Yes I am sure we have all heard this but it is very true. WAHMs are special. It takes a unique woman to be able to do this. We all may do different things in different ways but WAHMs are all the same at heart. Take pride in that.

If that doesn’t motivate you take a look at your kids. They are the reason that many of us do this. That makes this week so much better than those before it. Gives me the motivation to write and to keep writing!

Seasonal Lack of Motivation for a WAHM

I am not quite sure why, but every year around Feb, March and April I fall into the blaahhhs.

I start the year out well, dare I even say, on fire, but then the middle of February it seems that I have no motivation. It seems I struggle through these months. As can be seen by the lack of entries in my blog lately.

This year seems especially difficult. It is just 10 weeks until we move. Not just across town, mind you, but across country.

So I need to find my focus. I need to write. I need to blog. Blogging is very therapeutic for me. It is like my mini motivator. Though I may not have a readership in the hundreds like others, it is just the fact that I can share thoughts, ideas and dare I say it motivation!

This is my source of income. Not my blog, but my online endeavors. I need to become more focused and more regimented.

Maybe that is my issue. I need to find more structure. I know many Work At Home Moms work at home to avoid just that. But when providing a service and fulfilling contracts, one has to start scheduling. I have tried to implement a daily schedule, but things come up. Neighbors drop in, friends call, I have to run out and do errands. These are the things that distract me. I really need to do away with these kind of things.

As far as motivation? Well I need to work on it. I guess maybe I will go back to the dress for success and daily blogging. If I make myself do it for a day or so, it really does become easier and easier!

So tell me, do you find troubles with motivation at certain times of year? How do you work through it? Share tips with me! Would love to hear how other WAHMs deal!

What’s Your Motivation This Week?

It’s the beginning of a new week. What is motivating you this week? I blogged last week about your to do list, this week I am wondering what motivates you to keep being a WAHM from week to week.

I know a lot of us are going to say being able to stay at home with our kids. This is a very strong motivator for so many of us.

Moms are not the same today as they were when most of us were kids. No long the Mom at home keeping the house and the kids, while Dad was out earning the paycheck. Dinner on the table at 6PM sharp. Moms are out there taking kids to ballet and soccer, volunteering at schools and other venues. Moms are busy. Add a career and a traditional brick and mortar building and then you have a lot to do.

Moms want to be there for their kids. A lot of moms want to slow down that overwhelming pace. They want to be there for every little thing for each kid. This can be hard when trying to balance that 40+ hour a week job, house, children and husband.

So kids are a major motivator for moms to stay at home. But there are more motivators for many of us.

The motivator for some moms is to bring in an income. Things are expensive. It doesn’t matter if you stay at home or you work outside the home, income or an additional income can come in very handy. Working at home, on the internet, supplies a lot of wonderful opportunities for those that are in need of bringing in money. Money is a very powerful motivator.

Another very powerful motivator is the need to be productive. There are those moms who have to be creative and productive in society. The interaction with other moms. The thought that you are doing work that others out thee appreciate and get. As some mom told me the other day Talking and working with someone that understands more than crayons and Veggie Tales.

I guess this is the need to be more than a mom sometimes. We like to be seen as our own individual person. Not just Josh’s Mom. I am a writer, entrepreneur and yes I am Josh’s mom. Being a mom doesn’t define my whole personality. The internet provides moms with that opportunity to find this. They can be a full time mommy and be something else their dreams want to be also.

There are many other motivators out there. Knowing what motivates you will help you build your online business. It doesn’t matter if you are a freelancer, telecommute, or own your very own business finding your motivator will help you see where you are coming from.

Knowing where you are headed is the next step!
