“What do you do?”

This is a question I am frequently asked. I mean in reality people do not see you get dressed up every morning and head off to work. To them all they see is you behind closed doors every day, doing who knows what. I could be in here watching soaps and eating bonbons don’t you know?

So how do I answer the question, “What is it you do?”

When I tell people I write, I think they get this strange vision of me sitting here, pounding away at the keys, drinking coffee, and smoking a stogie, writing the next New York Times bestseller. Wouldn’t that be nice? Well I have to admit the pounding at the keys and the coffee are a definite. The stogie and NYT bestseller are a bit farfetched. However, that NYT thing would be an ok gig.

What do I do all day? Well it really depends on what day it is.

I write many articles for various venues across the internet. I have my own clients that I write content for their websites. This is the most fun for me. I get to learn a lot about various topics that my clients need articles. It is great to work with these people. I really enjoy working with clients one on one.

I also have a few companies with which I freelance. These are companies I am under contract to produce content. One is strictly articles. I have to produce a certain amount of articles a month and am paid accordingly. I learn a lot about the writing processes on this one. I get to work one on one with great editors. Then I have a client that I only produce e-books for them. This one is one of the hardest, but in truth one of the most exciting. Writing an e-book that is 30 pages on a topic requires research, planning and many sentences.

I spend a lot of time here on my laptop. I spend a lot of time at the library researching various topics. Yes, I am an old-fashioned girl and like to use real books to reference. My desk is cluttered with various writing aids – dictionary, thesaurus, AP style guide, grammar guide and the latest Writer’s Market.

I love writing. I enjoy the freedom that it gives me to stay home with my kids. It gives me the freedom to be able to be involved in activities that I probably wouldn’t be able to if I had a brick and mortar job. It also gives me the freedom to express myself in a very creative way. I am a creative person and writing is an outlet for that.

So if you are looking for someone to write content for you look no further. I love writing and enjoy meeting new people to write for and network with!

“Why Should I Hire Someone to Write for Me?”

There is a time and a place for everything, so the saying goes. This really applies when hiring a ghostwriter.Let’s face it. You’re busy. There are so many things that you need to get done to make your online business prosper and grow.

There are those tasks you love. They are probably your passion. They are the reason you are pursuing what you are. They are what drives you and drives your business.

Then there are the other tasks. You know the ones. The ones you don’t enjoy.

Your time could be much better spent doing what you love. This is where outsources comes in to the picture.

Writing may be just one of those tasks that you don’t enjoy or don’t have time for.

Concentrate on your passion and let someone else take care of the writing task for you. Someone who researches your topic. Someone who writes all the time and knows how to string a few well-worded sentences together.

By outsourcing you end up with a great product. One that is well crafted and well researched.

You may be thinking that you can do your own article writing and not have to pay anyone. While you don’t have to pay yourself for writing you do have to use your time. How much is your time worth? If you usually work for $20 an hour and a well-worked article takes you two hours to write than you have just basically paid $40 for one article. Even if it only takes you an hour, that is still $20.

Outsourcing your writing work is well worth your business dollar. Consider it an investment in your bottom line. Use that time and put it towards making even more money for your business.

What have you done for others today?

Lately I have found myself a mentor. I know that many of you may have alreday found a mentor along the line, but I have long struggled with what I feel like has been an alone journey.

So what is so great about a mentor? A mentor is helping to guide you by using the knowledge that they learned. They are passing on what someone taught them. They are paying it forward. Isn’t that a cool idea?

I was talking to my daughters the other day about Christmas adopting families. One of my daughters had taken several tags off a Christmas tree at ballet class for the family. I told them I didn’t mind doing for other families, because once upon a time people did for us. People gave my sons and I Christmas dinner and gifts when we probably would of had none.

These things are things done without the expectation of being given anything in return. Everyone can do their part. I am sure that you have some talent, some knowledge that someone else would benefit from. Why not pay it forward and give of yourself?

In the meantime, my mentor and friend Trevor Crook has a great Pay it Forward for today!  Check it out at Pay it Forward Entrepreneurs Day.
