Working and Moving

Life comes at you quick sometimes. I know that is some insurance commercial, but it really is true. Seems a few short weeks ago I had all the time in the world. Now today I face that the first of two shipments of stuff goes out tomorrow! Yes tomorrow.

I guess one of the biggest concerns of this move is how to do it and not interrupt my writing. I have my contract position and clients. I don’t want to let them down. They trust me to get the job done. This is going to take organization on my part. I also have a new project in the works. That needs a lot of TLC right now. So how am I going to get this all done?

First I am making a list of everything that I need to write. Now this is a bit more than just my laptop. I am making a detailed list of all that I may need. Do you know all the little things you use on a daily basis to keep your home business running? How many things are essential? How many things you may be able to live without for a few weeks or a month or two?

Second I am scheduling everything out. I want to make sure we aren’t rushed around. Because the minute that happens, I will fall behind and in that situation the worst will happen and I will never catch up. Moves are stressful. I am hoping by scheduling that by incorporating in some down time that will cover the things that will happen to come up unexpectedly.

Third I am letting everyone know that I am moving. My clients and my contractor. This way they know that if something should happen I will be in touch as soon as I can. Keeping those lines of communication open and being open and honest upfront. Though I may be a blond at times it is important to keep everything going as it should.

I am really hoping that this will help me clarify and focus my business ventures. Weeding out the deadwood so to speak. Finding what is important and necessary and getting rid of the fluff.

Do you know what the necessities are for your home business? Do you know your daily priorities that need to get done? Making a list of these, even if you aren’t moving, may help you find the focus that you need.

Wed Workings

My Monday motivation just didn’t make it this week. So as not to go into a whole long drawn out story about my love/hate relationship with my internet provider, suffice it to say that we just don’t get along. But the good news is that in 7 short weeks I can tell them to go fly a kite, and that is mild compared to what I really want to say to them.

So I missed Monday and Tuesday, so I have to move on to Wednesday huh? Well you ever have a week like that? Here it is the middle of the week and due to things going on you have gotten noting accomplished that you need to get done? You have a bunch of projects that you just have to get started and get accomplished. I have deadlines looming over my head that just need to get done.

What I need to do to sit down and re-evaluate my week. My whole week does not need to be down the tube. There is still plenty of time to save what is left of it.

First evaluate what needs to be done, and when. Make a list if you need to. Arrange the list by what needs to be done first and go from there.

Now you have a list of things that need to get done, what do you do? It may be just a teensy weensy bit overwhelming if your Mon and Tues have gotten nothing done. Remember, one thing at a time. Start at the most urgent task and work your way down. Once you get started it won’t seem so bad, trust me.

Once you get started remember to take breaks. Breaks give your brain time to recharge a bit. Have a problem with getting a project done just the way you wanted? Been working at it for what seems like hours? Starting to feel like you are running behind again? Take a break. Get up from your desk, walk around. Feel like you can’t do that either? Well go to the next task on your list and work on that. Change your focus a bit. When you come back to the original task your brain may see things a bit differently.

Don’t let a bad start to your week mess up the rest. Refocus your thoughts and your motivation and start to get things done!

Have a great week! Oh! Wait! Even if I missed my Monday Motivational there were some great ones posted! Check out Life From My Laptop’s Monday Motivation by Alyssa and Real Life Solutions Monday Motivation by Aurelia.

Monday Motivational

Monday comes around every time this week and always seems to catch me off guard. You would think after all this time, I could catch on that it was coming. But no … I let the weekend get away with me. Monday morning arrives and seems to shock my system.

Well we are back to it, here it is again, MONDAY.

Mondays are a time for beginnings. Time to plan your week, your month. They are a time to get organized.

My goal for this Monday is to do just that. I am going to start with my cluttered desk. Since we are moving, (8 weeks today) a lot of this stuff has to go. I would post a picture, but I am just too embarrassed to let everyone see what a state of decline my desk has sunk to. So first I will declutter my desk. Then my goal is to plan out my writing for the week and break it down into manageable chunks. I have a lot to get done this week, so I have to plan on what to do when.

So what’s my motivation this week? Organization. Thats it. I am going to be stunned into productiveness by my brilliant organization. Won’t you join me???
