What kind of to do list WAHM are you?

We all have them. Some are long, some are short, some are on scraps of paper, some are in organizers, others are ultra high tech and computerized.

WAHMs are often working at home to get away from the ultra scheduled day to day grind of the brick and mortar world of employment. Many see to do list and schedules as restrictions and confinements that they are trying to get away from.

To do list do help us get accomplished what we must get done to make ourselves successful. We all want this. If we work at home or in an office, we all want some form of success. often times our to do list is a guide to get there.

We can make those to do list our friends. Honest we can. Learning to have them work for us rather than us work for them is important.

I realize this seems like a contradiction, but honest it isn’t. Let me show you.

Your to do list should be a framework of sorts. First you need the goals you need for your business. You can do this by year, month, week or daily. Start with the larger increment and break it down from there. These are YOUR goals. They are what you want. Your to do list is your way to get there. Your path.

Once you have your goals, write them down. I don’t recommend the scraps of paper. Take it from me, there are just way to easy to lose, ignore or just plain forget. Let’s work with one of the other methods.

To do list are only good if you actually use them. Buying that great organizer that sits pretty on your desk, under that pile of paper work, just isn’t going to get it done. On the other hand if that gorgeous organizer really inspires you to get your to do list out and start checking off items, well then go for it, what are you waiting for??

Others seem to like the ultra modern computerized to do list. I love my One Notes. It’s a great place where you can make to do list. keep them organized with tabs, reminders and even integrates into your outlook and calenders if you want. The calender in outlook is another great function. It even comes with alarms. That has come in handy in more than one occasion.

But what about those times when you are away from your computer, and still have business comittements? What are your options then? Well then you are back to your paper organizer or an electronic organizer. Yes they have these. There are even phones that come with PDA and blackberries.

I once talked to a very professional WAHM. Her thing was just a plain notebook. You know the type. She had an organizer, but kept this notebook, the ones that are like a dime a piece when school starts, on her desk, by her phone. All day she wrote down important dates, things she needed to get done, phone numbers, contacts and such. At the end of the day she would go through this, put all the pertinent info into her organizer and to do list.

Which ever method that you choice is fine. Just make it work for you. From that simple dime store notebook, to the high tech computerized method, make your to do list, stick to it.

What kind of to do list WAHM are you? Where do you keep your list of daily, weekly and monthly task? Anyone have any tips or ideas to share? Feel free to leave a comment.
