Are you ready?

I live in coastal GA. Before this I lived in NC and in Texas. Seems we have always lived where there is a possibility of severe weather. It can be a hurricane or tornado. I have written articles before on being prepared. Are you ready?

It is really important to be prepared. To have the necessities on hand. This is more than just water and bread. Do you have a plan where to meet family members in case you get separated? Do your children have phone numbers of family or friends that live away from you, in case they need it? There are all sorts of things to consider.
And for a little help check out …

Remember: It is better to have the preparedness stuff you need and never use it….then need it and not have it.

Saturday here and a lot to get done.

Saturdays is a day when the kids aren’t usually in my hair. They spend most of their weekends outside. I also don’t have much in the line of work to do. Unless of course it is deadline weekend. And I won’t have another one of those until January.

This weekend I have tons of ideas floating around in my head. 2 chapters in my school work to complete and company coming over for a bbq. We also got the van started and brought home, so that will need major TLC. But I am glad it is home. And now we can start the process of putting it up for sale.

So I am off for a weekend full of activities and some fun. Have a great weekend. And I am sure you will see me blogging on and off here :)

It’s everywhere!

I have to tell you that once I decided to count how many credit card offers I got in a month. After week 2 I gave up I had so many. The thing about it is, I don’t have good credit. Imagine someones mailbox that does! Jimminy Christmas!

Interest free credit cards do exist and are often the carrot used to lure people in. But READ the fine print. These are only for a specific time, 3 months, 6 months,a year if you are lucky.

Me? I am doing all I can to pay off the credit cards that I have. I refuse to make a move with this mountain of debt hanging over our heads. I do understand the need to have one though. A REAL emergency. Check out a credit card guide. This list cards and their pros and cons. A handy little list.

Another thing I have known people to do, which is great in theroy is credit card transfer. You have a credit card with a high interest rate so you transfer it to a zero or low introduction rate. With all the good intention of paying it off before that interest rate sky rockets. I like this theroy. Really I do. But what is the saying, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions”?  I know me, and most people I think, would carry a lot of this debt over to past the interest free point. And while you have saved money on interest you still owe the money.

Sit down with a budget and figure ou t how you can pay off your debt. Then stick to it. That may be hard. I have blogged about this before. Face your credit card debt, or just debt in general. That is the hardest step there is. ANd then move on and stick to your plan. It will work. Honest!
