What’s an Ottoman?

I live in a very kid friendly, pet friendly, male friendly kinda house. Do you really think that any of them would know what ottomans are? I mean really?

But in my dream house there will be these creatures that allude me here. I want a nice house full of wonderful furniture.

My next goal is to buy myself a nice wine rack. I have started to collect wines. I am starting to feel so grown up! I have several nice bottles on hand that I am saving for an occasion. At the moment they are sitting on my bakers rack collecting dust. I really want a nice wine rack that points out my ecclectic style, in both decorating and in wines.

I also want some nice living room furniture. Something that is less kid friendly and more femine friendly. Yes there is a difference, a big difference if you ask me. Think about it. Last night kids were on the couch eating chinese watching tv, and the puppy jumped up. Yeap you guessed it. Sesame Chicken and Garlic shrimp all over my couch. Thank goodness I have a microsuede couch and had it scotch guarded!

I want something like this. There would be no fried rice near that! Think of it. I would feel like a real grown up!

I really believe that your furniture and your interior decorating give a lasting impression of you. What does yours say about you? I know mine screams, “Beware of the Children!”

Just a bit of maintenance …

That would be dryer fuses. Remember I discussed that in the last entry? Well let me be the first to tell you, changing them is NO FUN AT ALL!

Thank goodness it doesn’t need to be done often. My dryer has to last me just 8 more months. We are selling it rather than moving it and having it in storage for a few years. It is already about 15 years old.

You have to pull it out. Unplug it. Detach the dryer hose vent (I hate this!) take off the back of the dryer. Find the two parts that need to be replaced. Wire them off, wire the new ones on and then put everything back together.

This is no fun. It is hot. And should I mention now just how dirty and dusty the inside of my dryer really is??

But I guess for $22 it is better than a new dryer.  Now we have warm air cycling with our wet clothes. Life is better. And I really hope that fuse holds until I can sell the dryer!!!!!

Things that come in handy.

No that is not an answer to a Jeapordy question. It is something that comes to mind right now. Besides dryer fuses (a whole other blog entry), a spare laptop battery would be real handy. I really need one.

When life was better, ie my laptop was new, it seemed that I could survive a lot longer on my battery. Now, not so much. And to think my laptop is only a year old. Now granted, I don’t go off the grid often, where I need my battery. Most of it’s life is seated here on my desk. But there are times when I like to use my laptop on the battery, say like driving.

Laptop Batteries can be very expensive when you buy them straight through your manufacturer. I don’t even want to think about what Gateway wanted to charge me. I passed on it when I got this. But now the $80 for my model at Laptop Batteries isn’t looking so bad to me.

And now, cause I know you all are dieing to know. I stored my driving directions on my laptop when I went home. Pretty useless if you are in the car needing directions and your laptop battery is dead.

Lesson learned. Get a spare. Keep it charged. You never know when it may just come in handy!!!
